In 2018 only 13% of registered YJFL umpires were female. There is now scope to generate further interest from females to become umpires, given that over 23% of YJFL players are female.
The Yarra Junior Football League is hosting a Come and Try Umpiring Evening – an Introduction for females interested in umpiring across all disciplines – field, boundary and goal.
Tuesday, 20th November, 5:30 pm – 7:00pm
@ YJFL Head Quarters- Bulleen Park No. 1 Oval, 175 Bulleen Rd, Bulleen.
We are delighted to have Senior VFL and AFLW Umpire, Annie Mirabile, along with YJFL Umpire Manager, David Hannan and his YJFL Umpire Coaches in attendance to guide, answer any questions and encourage females to be part of the YJFL Umpires in the 2019 season and beyond.
As a follow-up to the come and try evening, we will also be offering 3 Umpire Development Nights for those female’s interested in further exploring the opportunities that umpiring can offer. These development nights will take place prior to the YJFL Umpire Squad recommencing training for the 2019 season.
Below you will find a flyer, that has all the relevant information for the Come and Try Evening.
