The Richmond Junior Football Club (RJFC) celebrated their 50-year anniversary on Saturday 5 August at the Richmond Union Bowling Club.
The Richmond Junior Football Club celebrated their 50-year anniversary on Saturday 5 August at the Richmond Union Bowling Club with over 150 of the RJFC community in attendance, including past and present players, families, members, and supporters. The money raised will go towards a new electronic scoreboard for the club.
The club was established in 1973 at Citizens Park with the club first playing in the Hawthorn Districts Junior Football League.
Over 50 years, the club has grown in size and has developed an integrated an outstanding girls’ program. The club has also developed a strong partnership with the Melbourne Indigenous Transition School (MITS) providing MITS students with the opportunity to play club football with RJFC.
RJFC has won 21 premierships and has produced two AFL/W players, Tom Roach and Tilly Lucas-Rodd.
Earlier this season, the milestone was celebrated by Richmond’s AFL team with several AFL players attend RJFC training and taking photos with the junior teams.
